Our SDGs. For sustainable development.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was adopted in 2015 by all member states of the United Nations, is a shared concept for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, both now and in the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that serve as an urgent appeal to all nations – both industrial and developing nations – to act as part of a global partnership. In the course of drawing up our sustainability strategy, we analysed which of the 17 SDGs have the biggest impact on and the strongest link to our focus areas.

Having compiled the results from both partial analyses, the following SDGs were selected:

Using low-emission materials, natural light, a fresh air supply and the right temperature control system, we create a healthy indoor climate that promotes the well-being of tenants. We pay particular attention to the health of our employees and contractors on construction sites and within the supply chain.

Our innovative building concepts limit the use of materials and space, thereby making it simpler to separate economic growth from the consumption of resources. Along our entire supply chain, we are committed to ensuring safe and good working conditions and protecting human rights.

We help building users to switch to clean and environmentally friendly technologies. To this end, we provide an efficient infrastructure within the buildings to allow energy and water to be used efficiently and implement sustainable mobility concepts in the residential areas and properties.

We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind and are committed to respectful coexistence, diversity, tolerance and equal opportunities. We observe these principles both when dealing with our employees and our tenants, when allocating homes and designing inclusive residential areas that are accessible to all.

Our aim is to reduce the environmental impact of our buildings and help to develop sustainable urban spaces. This includes avoiding land sealing measures and greening our existing building stock, enabling us to increase our resilience to the consequences of climate change.

In order to protect natural resources, we strengthen the circular economy principle in our processes. In doing so, we attach particular importance to the use of sortable and recyclable materials when constructing new buildings and modernising existing stock and are committed to effective waste reduction.

Modern technologies, innovative building technology and optimised processes help to reduce our buildings’ carbon emissions and energy consumption. Based on life cycle analyses, we work out the key decarbonisation factors, which we have enshrined in our new BLUE BUILDING 2022 standard.

We are committed to promoting biodiversity by protecting natural flora and fauna. With the aid of planting measures, biotope networking and water management, we not only add environmental value, but also increase the value of our properties while cutting the cost of managing them.

Compliance and integrity are the highest standards guiding everything we do. We take action against corruption and bribery and embrace transparent and ethical corporate governance based on our Code of Conduct and what is required of our partners within the supply chain.
